NA3DX Field Day 2018 – June 23-24

The Explorers Radio Club is planning a new site for the ARRL June Field Day Event.

The tentative location is 84 Portland Manor Farm Drive, Lothian, Maryland 20711. The Amateur Radio UHF Talk-in frequency will be determined later.

We will have a Get On The Air (GOTA) HF Station for inactive or newly licensed amateur operators, and unlicensed scouts, youth, family, friends, guests, and the unlicensed public! For more on Field Day see the ARRL Field Day site!

While Field Day is not an official contest, many treat it as both an emergency preparedness event and a contest. The ARRL ranks participants within categories and publishes the results in the ARRL’s QST magazine. There is a good story about ham radio contesting as a sport in the Sport Illustrated Vault at: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/article/magazine/MAG1002473/index.htm

Team NA3DX will be operating 5 watts QRP in the either the category of 2A Battery or 3A Battery.  We use primarily Elecraft KX3 and K3 radios.  Our antennas are supported by three to four AB-577 portable towers and supported masts.  Our antennas primarily are a 80m vertical loop, 40m wire V-Beams, 10m-20m tribanders,  and a 6m yagi.

For more information before, during, or after the event, email Douglas Ellmore Sr., NA1DX – na1dx@arrl.net for more information.

We also have setup a Pinterest site for NA3DX Field Day! so you can check out past and present photos.
